Official launch of the Online Business Registration System on Information and Technology Platform (OBR) Phase 2

On 1st September 2021, Cambodia officially launched the Online Business Registration System on Information and Technology Platform (OBR) Phase 2. EuroCham's chairman Mr. Tassilo Brinzer and our team attended this morning’s exciting online launch ceremony, presided over by H.E. Dr. AUN Pornmoniroth, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Finance.
We very much welcome this further development of the online business registration system and digitalization of Cambodia’s government services. As EuroCham, together with our Sectorial Committees, we have been advocating for easing the process of doing business in Cambodia for many years and we strongly stand behind this initiative that promises to pave the way for a continued development of e-government services. Facilitating and encouraging business registration for all companies is also an important step towards legal compliance, which we promote strongly and which will ensure a level playing field for all entrepreneurs.
The OBR Phase 1 was already launched last year, on June 15, 2020, and included business registration with the Ministry of Commerce, tax registration at the General Department of Taxation, and the notification of enterprise opening at the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training.
The OBR Phase 2 now expands the scope of the system through the collective efforts of the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications and the Real Estate Business & Pawnshop Regulator of the Non-Banking Financial Services Authority. Users can now apply for specialized licenses online and pay online as well.
