Launching Workshop of Cambodia's "Long-Term Low Emissions Development Strategy (LT-LEDS)"

Today, EuroCham's Green Business Committee representatives and our Advocacy team participated in the Launching Workshop of Cambodia's "Long Term Low Emissions Development Strategy (LT-LEDS)”, presided over by H.E. Dr. TIN Ponlok, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Environment.

The LT-LEDS will provide a detailed, evidence-driven guide to deliver more ambitious commitments aligned with the Paris Agreement and to achieve net-zero carbon emissions targets. The strategy will also guide national development processes in a more coordinated, coherent, and strategic manner.

According to the Paris Agreement, all countries should formulate and communicate long-term low greenhouse gas emission development strategies towards achieving the ambitious commitment to limit global warming to well below 2 °C and to pursue efforts to limit the increase to 1.5 °C.

Being a member of this agreement, Cambodia released the National Climate Change Strategic Plan 2014-2023, submitted the Intended Nationally Determined Contribution (INDC) in 2015 and Updated NDC at the end of 2020. In December 2020, the Royal Government announced the commitment to set forth in 2021 a long-term strategy for carbon neutrality.
