Stakeholder Dialogue on Consumer Protection II

On 28 Januray 2021 at the Hyatt Regency, EuroCham co-organised the second of three "Stakeholder Dialogues on Consumer Protection", titled: "Promoting Ethical Business in Cambodia: Protecting Your Customers". The event was organised with the Consumer Protection, Competition and Fraud Repression Directorate General (CCF) under the Ministry of Commerce (MoC), and with the support of the GIZ Consumer Protection in ASEAN (PROTECT) project.

Consumer protection should not be seen as a burden for companies, and the dialogue instead focused on how implementing consumer protection measures can actually be a strategic decision for businesses. It can boost the trust, reputation and engagement businesses have with their customers.

We were joined by leading experts from the technology (Wing) and FMCG (Coca-Cola) sectors, who shared their own consumer inquiry portals. Legal experts from Bun & Associates highlighted the risks and opportunities for companies to be aware of in light of the 2019 Law on Consumer Protection.

The dialogue concluded with an interactive panel discussion, moderated by EuroCham, and with the participation of H.E Mr. Phan Oun, Director-General at Consumer Protection, Competition and Fraud Repression Directorate-General (CCF) as well as representatives from three aforementioned companies.
