Intellectual property rights Day

On April 26 2016, the Ministry of Commerce welcomed a distinguished audience to the third annual recognition of World Intellectual Property day, which this year was themed ‘Digital Creativity: Culture Reimagined’. The event was intended to reaffirm Cambodia’s commitment and attention to IP sector, which is recognized as an essential component for facilitating economic growth and national development, and and to raise the awareness of IP among students, academic researchers and general public.

Speeches were made by honorable guests speakers from the Japan Patent Office (JPO), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the EU Regional IntellectualProperty Attaché, the EU-ASEAN Project on the Protection of Intellectual Property Rights(ECAP III), the Motion Picture Association of America and the American Chamber of Commercein Cambodia (AmCham).

The event was presided over by H.E. PAN Sorasak, Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the NCIPR (National Committee for Intellectual Property Rights), and was attended by H.E. WILLIAM A. HEIDT, the U.S. Ambassador to Cambodia, H.E. GEORGE EDGAR, the EU Ambassador to Cambodia, H.E. KUMAMARU YUJI, Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia, H.E. SOM SOKUN, Secretary of State of Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts and Deputy Chairman of National Committee for Intellectual Property Rights, Representatives from all line ministries and members of NCIPR, trademark agents, EuroCham, and students.
