Notification on Khmer New Year Holidays

The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training issued a notification No. 080/16 on 31 March 2016 on Khmer New Year holidays, stating as following:

 

  • Companies are required to provide their staff paid days-off in the upcoming occasions of Khmer New Year lasting four days from 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th April 2016
  • In the case that companies cannot cease their operations during the New Year, employers have to negotiate with their employees on a voluntary basis and allocate suitable days off
  • Workers who work on Khmer New Year’s Day shall be entitled to a lump sum equal to the wage paid on normal working day 
  • If possible, owners of enterprises should prepare popular games and other kinds of celebration to welcome the Khmer New Year.
