Sustainable Production Action Group

EuroCham launched its first Sustainable Production Action Group on Friday 26th November, as a core part of its CSR agenda to support SMEs. As more and more companies in Cambodia shift towards sustainable production practices, this group aims to understand the challenges faced by sustainable producers, as well as supply chain actors aiming to improve their sustainability. The output of these meetings will be a comprehensive White Paper, detailing the challenges faced when attempting to produce sustainably, when attempting to greenify supply chains, and when beginning to export sustainable products.

So far, the group consists of leading companies from across Cambodia, ranging from sustainable textiles to agricultural producers. During this first introductory meeting, we made great progress in discussing the pain points and challenges sustainable producers encounter, and narrowed down to 5 core advocacy focus areas:

  • Capacity Building for Sustainable Production
  • Sustainable Packaging
  • Sustainable Labour
  • Incentives for Sustainable Producers
  • Certifications

Our next meeting will be held on the 28th of January 2022, where core challenges will be discussed in greater detail. We would like to thank Severine Gagneraud, Jitka Markova, Likanan Luch, Yon Sovann, Sandy Kotan, WorldBridge Industrial Developments, Khmer Green Charcoal, Angkor Harvest Co., Ltd, Villageworks, and all other committed companies for their valuable insights so far, on an increasingly important topic.
