Amret primary aim is to be an outstanding financial institution that improves the living standard of the population and contributes to the economic and social development of Cambodia and South East Asia by providing, in a responsible manner, a wide range of financial services to low and middle income people, as well as micro, small and medium enterprises.

To do so, Amret is present in all provinces of Cambodia with 156 branches. Amret is supported by strong international shareholders, including Advans SA, IFC and FMO. It is certified by the SMART campaign for its Client protection principles.

Amret (formerly EMT) started as a project initiated by GRET, a French NGO, in 1991. It became the first Microfinance Institution to get a formal license from the National Bank of Cambodia in 2001.  It changed its name to Amret, signifying “long life and prosperity” in 2014, with the slogan “With you, for you”. It diversified its lending products in the following years to serve businesses, farmers and households both in groups and individually. It acquired a Deposit Taking license in 2009 and became a full subsidiary of the Advans group, an international microfinance group operating in 9 countries, in 2015. Today, Amret is in the top 10 leading Financial Institutions (banks and MFIs included) of the country, serving more than 400,000 clients with impact.
