COVID-19 has caused an unprecedented crisis and has shocked Cambodia, the region, and the world. The effects of COVID-19 have led to an 80% drop in international and 20% domestic tourists, with an estimated $ 3 billion in revenue loss by 2020. The Royal Government of Cambodia has set out the Roadmap for Recovery of Cambodia Tourism During and Post COVID-19 divided into 03 phases; Phase 1 (resilience & restart), Phase 2 (recovery), and Phase 3 (relaunch).
The schedule of minimum wage negotiation for textiles, garments, footwear and travel products, and bags for 2023; has been stated and shall be carried out by all parties such as the public, workers, employers, and organizations in accordance with the stated calendar by the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training on 23 June 2023.
Additionally, all parties shall rely on legal information and research studies based on social criteria (family status, inflation rate, and cost of living) and economic criteria (productivity, national competitiveness, labor market status), and the level of profitability of the sector as defined in the Article 5 of the Law on the Minimum Wage.
The Royal Government of Cambodia has the vision to transform the traditional economy into a digital economy in the near future. To achieve this vision, the RGC has put in place the required reform programs, including the adoption of the e-Filing for NFPEs User Guide which was released by the Accounting and Auditing Regulator on 7 June 2022.
This Financial Reporting Management System for Not-or-Profits Entities was established to facilitate the process of filing, reviewing, and maintaining the financial statements of NFPEs in accordance with the law and regulations in force. In addition, this system will lower the costs of NFPEs in fulfilling their obligations, increasing transparency, ensuring accountability, as well as improving the quality of public services.
The Law on Food Safty was promulgated by the Royal Government of Cambodia on 08 June 2022 to establish the framework and mechanism for managing and ensuring the safety, quality, hygiene, and legitimacy of foods at all stages of the food production chain and the food business in the Kingdom, such as foods being produced, processed, packaged and distributed in accordance with technical standards and regulations to protect consumer health and ensure a healthy food trade. The technical regulations shall be based on Cambodian Food Standard, Code of Conduct, and guidelines approved by the National Standards Council, as well as international guidelines issued by the International Food Organization.
