Background

EuroCham Cambodia was created in 2011 by the existing French, German and British business associations to act as the official chamber of the European business community in the Kingdom.

Since then, it has grown to over 340 members and 6 national chapters. EuroCham Cambodia's core activities are to promote, support and represent its members and European business interests in dialogue with the Royal Government of Cambodia, with the aim of developing a more efficient and fertile business and investment environment.

EuroCham Cambodia creates and disseminates market information tools such as the White Book, the Business Confidence Survey, the Getting Started in Cambodia Guides, and the Cambodia Business Opportunity Guides. EuroCham is now seeking an INTERNAL SERVICES CONSULTANT to lead the updates of several of EuroCham Cambodia’s key publications for 2020 and 2021. Namely, the Business Confidence Survey, the Getting Started in Cambodia Guide, and the Business Opportunities Guide.

DESCRIPTION OF THE ASSIGNMENT

The INTERNAL SERVICES CONSULTANT will be based full time within the EuroCham office and will report directly to the EuroCham Services Manager for the duration of the 3.37-month contract.

They will be responsible for updating key publications and assisting in the daily tasks of the services department as and when needed.

The successful applicant will have the unique opportunity to contribute towards 3 widely disseminated publications during the consulting contract. The role requires the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, time management skills, adaptability when supporting other tasks required by the chamber, as well as excellent writing skills in English.

It should be noted that the successful applicant will not have to start the publications from zero. Draft versions of each publication are already prepared. The main responsibility is polishing, editing, and finalising the draft versions so that they are ready for publications by 12th-February 2021.

Scope of Work

Specific objectives of the assignment

The consultant will work under the supervision of and report to the EuroCham Services Manager. He/she will be responsible for the following tasks as required, but not limited to:

  • Updating & Finalising the Draft Business Opportunities Report
    • Research primary sectors of opportunity within Cambodia
    • Write up business opportunities in a clear and entertaining manner
    • Work closely with the design team to finalise the document
  • Updating & Finalising the Draft Getting Started in Cambodia Guide
    • Research recent legal reviews to understand and present the business registration process
    • Write up getting started guide in a clear and entertaining manner
    • Work closely with the design team to finalise the document
  • Disseminating and Analysing the 2020 Business Confidence Survey
    • Analyse 2019 Business Confidence Survey & Make Recommendations for its Improvement
    • Work with the Services Department to design the online 2020 survey form
    • Work with the communications team to disseminate the online survey to our member list
    • Work to follow up on the survey to achieve at least 100 survey respondents
  • Supporting the Services Department with other tasks as and when necessary
    • Contributing to ongoing research assignments within the team
    • Contribute towards business development when searching for new research assignments
    • Respond to investor enquiries sent to EuroCham Cambodia
    • Support the development of the 2021 Services and Training Strategy

Requirements

EXPERTISE Sought

  • High proficiency in written business English
  • Proven research capacity preferably focused on the Cambodian private sector
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, with relative autonomy
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Awareness of the Cambodian private sector, and the challenges and opportunities it presents to investors
  • Previous experience working with international organisations, embassies, NGOs, or private sector organisations.
  • Khmer language will be considered an asset.
