As in  many  countries, COVID-19 has  put the brakes on Cambodia’s  rapid  economic growth. Although a pillar of the Kingdom’s economy with 150,000 estimated workers involved, the Real Estate & Construction sector has also been hit.

Prior to the pandemic, Cambodia’s construction boom  looked set to continue, with  a total of 728 projects  valued at over  US$2 billion approved  in  the first two months of 2020 by the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction. However, since the outbreak of COVID-19 the market has  slowed: rental prices have fallen, property prices have dropped, and some projects have been delayed. The strength of a potential rebound in 2020 will depend on various domestic and external factors.

Thida Ann is Director of CBRE Cambodia and an integral part of the team. Thida has an in depth knowledge of the Cambodian economy, tax structure and finance.

Thida has over eight years of experience in the property market including property acquisitions and disposals, consultancy and valuations across all sectors. Thida has specific experience in terms of property management financing, accounting and budgeting for a number of different property types.

Tom is the Services Manager at the European Chamber of Commerce. Here, he manages the Services Department in the implementation of advisory projects that assist institutions and companies either invest in, expand or establish their operations in the Kingdom of Cambodia.

Prior to EuroCham, Tom was a Consultant at Emerging Markets Consulting (EMC), providing advisory services across multiple ASEAN countries. Before this, Tom worked as a Business Management Graduate Scheme entrant for BT Group Plc., and at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals as a Regulatory Strategist at the firms UK headquarters.
