EuroCham's Fast Moving Consumer Goods Committee is hosting EuroCham's FMCG Forum: Tackling Counterfeit Goods and Illicit Trade on Wednesday 4th December.
Fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) in the Southeast Asia region is experiencing notable transformation due to the changes in consumer demands and the increase in competition among local, regional, and international players.
Yet despite its importance, the FMCG industry in Cambodia faces significant challenges, including illicit trade, and issues related to consumer information, regulation, and actual practices.
To tackle these challenges, collaboration between governments, law enforcement agencies, and businesses is crucial. Addressing illicit trade and counterfeit products is essential for governments to regain lost revenues; for consumers to have confidence in the safety and authenticity of products; and for businesses to operate in a fair and competitive environment. By implementing new measures, we can mitigate the negative impacts of illicit trade, protect consumer welfare, and uphold the integrity of the Cambodian market.
With an array of sessions planned, this forum will kick off with insightful opening remarks by our distinguished speaker, focusing on the macro perspective of the FMCG industry and the Royal Government of Cambodia's support initiatives. Throughout the day, attendees will engage in presentations and panel discussions led by industry experts and government officials, shedding light on the importance of the FMCG sector, its economic impact, and the obstacles it faces, including issues related to advertising, registration, tax, and counterfeit products. Through these discussions, the event aims to foster collaboration, propose solutions, and pave the way for a more transparent, consumer-centric FMCG industry in Cambodia.
