Prakas 146 on Implementation of Common Principle for Clean Water Price Determination

Prakas 146 issued by the Ministry of Industry and Handicraft: Implementation of Common Principle for Clean Water Price Determination

On 11 May 2017, the Ministry of Industry and Handicraft issued a Prakas on the Implementation of Common Principle for Clean Water Price Determination. The Prakas aims to determine the selling price of clean water by both public and private suppliers.

The common principle is that the price of clean water should be classified based on the usage amount as below:

  • The use of water from 0m3 to 3m3: selling price shall be equivalent to the cost of production – the justification is to help the low-income people.

  • The use of water from 4m3 and above: selling price shall be determined based on actual geographic specificities, with the consent of the Ministry of Industry and Handicraft in spirit of the interest of users and suppliers.

All suppliers shall revise their invoices in compliance with the above common principle. The price determination of clean water base on this principle shall come into effect from 15 May 2017.
