On the 26th of June at Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra, EuroCham and the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) are co-organizing the very first Tall Buildings Forum in Cambodia. Come and learn from some of Cambodia's leading professionals and Royal Government experts as they present and discuss the challenges and opportunities of constructing tall buildings in Cambodia. 

The event will include panel discussions on important topics such as:

  • Impact on Cambodia’s development model

Our Speakers

Tassilo Brinzer, Vice-Chairman of EuroCham Global Media Asia

Tassilo has worked in Germany for a wide range of publishing companies, where he has specialized in photography and magazine development before traveling to Cambodia in 2001 at the age of 32, when he launched a first, and still operating, hospitality business. In 2006, he and a partner launched Southeastern Globe Communications, a publishing company based in Cambodia. Today, the business' flagship publication, the Southeast Asia GLOBE is distributed in 7 regional markets and is the only publications in Asean covering all member countries. In 2014, FOCUS ASEAN is being launched as a quarterly publication, a website and application, covering hard economic news and features on Asean and its path to the Asean Economic Community, to be achieved in the coming years. Tassilo has been at the helm of the ADW, the German Business Group in Cambodia and a key founding member of Eurocham Cambodia, for the past 3 years.

H. E. Dr. Pen Sophal, Secretary of State - Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning & Construction

His Excellency Dr. Pen Sophal is Secretary of State at the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction and Secretary General of the National Committee for Cambodia’s Coastal Management and Development and Secretary General of the National Committee for Land Management and Urban Planning. H. E. Sophal holds a PhD in Public Law and a Master in Architecture and Town Planning; he is also a fellow of the Royal Institute of Charters Surveyors (Asia). With international experience as a city Planner in Japan, the Netherlands, Singapore and in South Korea H.E. Sophal has been previously employed by UNESCO to share his wealth of experience at several universities as a lecturer and doctoral professor.

Mr. Ross Wheble, MA MRICS Country Head - Knight Frank (Cambodia) Pte. Ltd.

Ross Wheble is the Country Head for Knight Frank Cambodia and oversees all areas of the operational business. A qualified member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and holding a master degree in property valuation and law, Ross has over 13 years' international experience, having worked in the UK, Malaysia, and now Cambodia, gained across all sectors with a particular focus on investment analysis, development consultancy, market research, and valuation. Ross has advised on numerous high profile projects in Southeast Asia, with clients including developers, investors, fund managers, pension funds and government bodies.

Michael Freeman - Comin Asia

Michael has been based in Cambodia since June 2016 after 10 years in the Middle East. With a background in mechanical engineering, Michael moved into project management and operations management and delivered projects in infrastructure, oil and gas, commercial and healthcare sectors before moving on to a new challenge with Comin.  Since joining Comin he was primarily focused on business development and tendering before taking responsibility for regional operations since early 2018.

Mr. Steve Zuo, Managing Principal - Sardini Group Inc. USA

Steve holds a Master’s Degree of Science, Civil Engineering from University of Toledo in Ohio. He has supervisory experience in the structural design, investigation and review of a variety of building types. His extensive experience includes in daily managing of all structural design aspects with architect, coordination of structural drawings with other disciplines, supervising project engineering design staff and negotiating contracts.

Mr. Pieter Georges Keppens, Head of Group Product & Technical Solution - Siam City Cement Public Company Ltd.

Pieter promoted as Master in Civil Engineering in 1995 from the University of Ghent in Belgium and has more than 20 years of experience in cement, binder and concrete applications in Europe and Southeast Asia, especially in large infrastructure and high rise projects. Since early 2017, he joined Siam City Cement Group in Bangkok as Head of Group Product and Technical Solutions, leading the development of solutions of INSEE to the construction industry.

 

Mr. J. Marshall Strabala, Design Partner - STRABALA & Architecture

Marshall Strabala is the Architect with 28 years of experience in the design of skyscrapers and other buildings. He had worked for Gensler, Skidmore, Owings and Merrill before becoming the founder and designing partner of the 2DEFINE and STRABALA + Architecture.  Strabala graduated with a Master of Architecture from Harvard Graduate School of Design and obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Design from University of California at Los Angeles.

Dr. Simon David Vancliff, Investment and Development Director - ING Holdings

Simon Vancliff moved permanently to South East Asia in 2003 working in both the public and private sectors and since has embarked on a 13+ year career in real estate, design, construction, infrastructure, development and investment across Asia by holding senior management roles in relevant fields. He is currently the Investment and Development Director at ING Holdings, a leading real estate developer in Cambodia, whom are currently focusing on their 2500+ Ha city project located approx. 4km south from central Phnom Penh, known as ING City.

Charles Amar, Manager, Vice-Chairman of EuroCham Real Estate & Construction Committee and Manager at Bun & Associates

Charles Amar has a wide experience in all aspects of real estate and construction law. He has been working with complex develop projects and has assisted owners and real estate developers in their improvement activities. Before joining Bun & Associates, Charles worked with the leading international law firms based in Paris, for ten years.

Mr. Seng Vannak, Chief of Administration  - Phnom Penh City Hall - Phnom Penh Municipality

With a Post-Master Degree (HMONP) in Architecture and Urban Planning from the National School of Architecture Paris-Malaquais in 2008 and as a member of both the French “Ordre des Architectes” and the ASEAN Board of Architects in 2013, Vannak Seng  joined the City Hall of Phnom Penh as Director of the Urbanization Office under the Urban Management Division after 12 years in Paris. He has recently taken the Chief of Administration role of the Phnom Penh City Hall and overseas 12 divisions containing 24 offices of the city hall of Phnom Penh, coordinating day to day technical and administrative operations between national and local authorities, changing policies by being part of all committees’ boards of the city hall leadership and more. Alongside this, he is an experienced speaker and has been asked judge different competitions in architecture and urbanisation.

Mr. Ravarro Dario, Asia Pacific - Technical Support Manager - Major Project, KONE

Dario is an experienced technical sales support manager for major projects in Asia Pacific. He is particularly involved in digital integration and advanced people flow solutions and assists with technical and sales training within Kone.  He is also involved in technical demonstrations for clients and exhibitions.

H.E Dr. Chhann Sorphal Director-General of Construction - Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning & Construction

Dr. Chhann Sorphal serves as Director-General of General Department of Construction, Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction. Dr. Sorphal was educated in France with Master Degree in Materials Science Engineering and PhD in Chemistry, and has worked in the construction field for 10 years. He was formerly a lecturer at the University of Paris XI and at the Institute de Formation des Ingénieurs de l’université Paris Sud (IDIPS), France.

Minh Nguyen Hong, Engineering Director - Archetype Vietnam

After his PHD in structural engineering in France, Minh worked on the international projects in France and in the Middle East. In 2012, he joined Archetype to work on large projects in South East Asia. To date, he has worked on several high-rise buildings, luxury hotels and resorts, airports and industrial projects. From 2018, in the position of Engineering Director, he is in charge of both the C&S department and MEP department.
